Seattle Central was founded in 1966 and is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges, an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education.

Seattle Central is part of the Seattle College District, which serves all of metropolitan Seattle and its surrounding communities, and comprises the largest community college district in the state, educating nearly 55,000 students each year.

Every year, 10,000 American students and 1,500 international students from about 70 countries choose Seattle Central College. Here they enjoy outstanding faculty, small classes, personal attention, and low tuition.

Seattle Central offers a wide variety of program options for students, as well as many excellent services and resources. As a group, international students at Seattle Central maintain a grade point average of approximately 3.3 on a scale of  0-4. Once they have completed their studies at Seattle Central, students can transfer to 4-year colleges and universities inside and outside of Washington to complete their Bachelor's degree.
