General eligibility criteria for an admission scholarship or bursary:
Meet the admission requirements of the faculty concerned
Be a first-time registered undergraduate student
Be a Canadian citizen, be a permanent resident or have protected person status (unless otherwise indicated.)
Admission scholarship
The Renewable Admission Scholarship automatically provides between $1,000 and $4,000 to all eligible full-time students with an average of 80% or more who are studying in a direct-entry faculty or in the Civil Law Section of the Faculty of Law. This scholarship is awarded automatically to all qualified students and can be renewed for up to the three following years at the same amount offered at the time of admission provided the student maintains full-time registration in a direct-entry faculty or in the Civil Law Section of the Faculty of Law and has a minimum CGPA of 8.5. Application is not required for this scholarship; all eligible students are automatically evaluated for this award.

President’s Scholarship

$30,000 ($7,500 per year)
The President’s Scholarship is awarded to one full-time undergraduate student in each of the direct-entry faculties. Valued at $30,000, it is one of the most prestigious scholarships at the University of Ottawa. Applicants must hold a student visa, have a minimum admission average of 92% (or equivalent) and demonstrate leadership qualities and a commitment to academic and extracurricular activities. This scholarship can be renewed for the three following years provided the student maintains full-time registration, international student status and a minimum CGPA of 8.5. The University also provides a one-time award of $1,500 to applicants in second, third and fourth place.

The University of Ottawa awards the Financial Aid Bursary to students who demonstrate financial need and maintain satisfactory academic standing. The value of this bursary is decided on an individual basis, based on the student’s level of financial need and availability of funds. This bursary is meant to supplement other sources of funding such as the student’s own resources and the resources of their parents or partner.
