THE DEVELOPMENT OF CIEE
In the mid-1950s, the Student Council (CST) facilitated American students to study in Europe and to bring international students to the United States. At the same time, the CST established overseas activities and began sponsoring student travel conferences for administrators, educators and teachers.
In the 1960s, the CST emerged as the focus of strategic and policy discussions on the future direction of intercultural education. In recognition of this change in strategy, in 1967, the Student Council was renamed the International Education Exchange Council (CIEE).
Over the past seven decades, CIEE has repeatedly redefined its goals to meet the needs and aspirations of its students, faculty, employees and organizations, strengthening its leadership position. is the world's leading international education organization.
