UEA is a UK top 15 university, ranking 14th in the highly respected Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2015.
UEA is one of the best universities in the UK for student satisfaction according to the 2015 Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey. An internationally renowned university based on a distinctive and attractive campus, in the historic city of Norwich, we pride ourselves on the excellent academic, social and cultural facilities which we offer to over 15,000 students, and UEA is home to more than 4000 International and EU students from over 120 countries.
Now, let’s listen to Chau Nguyen – UEA International Student Ambassador for Vietnam:
“Hi, my name is Chau Nguyen – UEA International Student Ambassador for Vietnam. I am a PhD student in Politics starting October 2012.
I chose UEA because it has a long tradition of academic excellence and good reputation of caring and supporting undergraduate and postgraduate students. Furthermore, one professor from Department of Politics and International Studies has been awarded as AHRC/BBC Radio 3's New Generation Thinkers 2012, and she agreed to be my supervisor……how lucky am I?!
It is difficult for me to define "the best" from all the good things I have seen or experienced here at UEA.
This is a wonderful place for students. The campus provides almost everything you need for a great student life e.g. entertainment, sport facilities, etc. Every teaching building is within short walking distance with modern architectures such as Sainsbury Centre and the Elizabeth Fry Building, as well as UNESCO heritage pyramid-like campus buildings such as Norfolk and Suffolk Terraces. Besides, Norwich is a safe friendly city, full of history and without traffic jams. It's truly a city of learning!
But if I have to pick just one thing, I would say the environment and people at UEA have impressed me the most. Being an international student in a foreign country will be full of challenges especially at the beginning. You will have to adjust to a different life style, language and sometimes you may feel a bit low. The University has excellent student support services with highly skilful staff that are willing to listen and help you at anytime.
Finally, I think the UEA Student Ambassador is a brilliant scheme for students to interact with fellow students and the community. Having studied MAs in the UK and Spanish institutions before, I understand the importance of an open-minded attitude as I have spent a lot of time conversing in multi-cultural crowds. I'm therefore very happy to be an International Student Ambassador to promote UEA diversity and dynamics, and to provide support to other international students.”
To assist international students with more favorable conditions while studying at UEA in 2015, the school will award 100 scholarships with a total value of up to £ 1,000,000. All international students coming from countries outside the EU will be considered for scholarships from 10% to 50%.
